ARTISTS OF COLOR COALITION

WHAT IS IT: The Artists of Color Coalition (A.C.C.) is a group for students of color in UMTAD to have a safe space to discuss, explore, and celebrate the culture and diversity within the department.  It aims to gather and build community across different majors and help UMTAD’s students of color thrive. Throughout the year, the A.C.C will be hosting numerous events and workshops with different BIPOC students in the department, artists in the Twin City area, alumni, and more!

USITT

WHAT IS IT: Our club is for theatre technicians looking for support, networking opportunities, and resources that we may miss out on during the school year. Our club seeks to enrich our out of classroom experience. We accomplish this through our connections to the local and national theatre technical scene. With biweekly sessions, we hear from professionals in our field. We also have a bunch of fun and it is a great way to connect with other undergrad design and tech students.

OPEN STAGE

WHAT IS IT: Student run organization that seeks to help students at the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities who are interested in creating theatrical pieces find grants for their ideas as well as allowing for students to use our resources/ knowledge to fill gaps in their projects. We are available to help find artists, collaborators, designers, actors, spaces, etc. that are needed for a project.

FIREFLY MUSICAL PRODUCTIONS:

WHAT IS IT: Firefly Musical Productions is a student musical theater company on University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus. All designing, acting, directing, and music is done by students.

CARVED OUT THEATRE

WHAT IS IT: Carved Out Theatre is a student run theater company based on the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus. Carved Out strives to produce semesterly shows, provide theater opportunities for all students, and build an open, collaborative, and supportive environment for all artists and those passionate about theatre.

MINNESOTA LONG FORM IMPROV (MLFI)

WHAT IS IT: MLFI is a long form improv troupe that has teams that perform in monthly shows. Every year, the group creates a new team from a pool of auditionees that will train, perform, and stay together for the next millennium. Every team forms its own practice schedule and performs on the first Friday of every month. Sign up to audition today!

MINNPROV

WHAT IS IT: Saturday Night Live. Whose Line Is It Anyway? These are examples of great entertainment based on improv comedy. The  University of Minnesota's premiere short form improv club.

U-Swing

WHAT IS IT: To introduce students to swing dancing and to teach enough basic skills for them to feel comfortable dancing socially, to create a community of dancers, and to provide opportunities for members to practice, share their knowledge, and have fun!

Ballroom Dance Club

WHAT IS IT: For over 30 years, the Ballroom Dance Club has continued to teach the artistry of ballroom dancing by bringing together the community of the University of Minnesota. The club also helps to promote social interaction and ballroom dance throughout the Twin Cities. It's the objective of the UMNBDC to provide, at all times, a fun, low-stress environment that focuses on self-improvement and the development of a community that operates as a social home to our fellow members. We believe anyone can learn to dance, and that the club provides an ideal place to learn at one's own pace with people that make it fun.

MinnesoTap

WHAT IS IT: We provide an artistic and educational opportunity not currently offered by the university, promote a cultural and historical awareness of a truly American art form, and connect tap dancers at the U of M to the broader tap dance community.

The Dance Collective

WHAT IS IT: We are student-led, studio-style dance club open to all skill levels and backgrounds. Our club welcomes a range of dancers, from those who have been dancing their whole lives to people who have never danced before. We celebrate many dance styles, including contemporary, jazz, hip hop, ballet, tap, belly-dancing, and more. We hold open classes once a week taught by various members in alternating styles. We also perform a large-scale showcase at the end of each semester, as well as additional smaller performances throughout the community.
